The Sustainability Manager will oversee and manage the Event Related Sustainability Policies and Efforts approved by the Client and the General Manager of the McCormick Place Convention Center under the direction of the Director of Sustainability.
This role will pay a yearly salary of $85,000 to $100,000.

- Reports directly to the Director of Sustainability.
- Executes sustainable efforts for all events working the Event Managers and Event Contractors.
- Oversees Loading Dock Management toward a Zero Landfill Policy:
- Conduct daily dock inspects in back-of-house docks.
- Report action items to the proper departments in regard to cleanliness, removing equipment, etc.
- Follow-up to confirm any infractions have been addressed within a timely manner.
- Assist the Sustainability Director on establishing move-in and move-out waste removal programs to increase sustainability numbers and improve diversion rates. Conduct waste audits, noting waste streams and end-user practices with opportunities for improvement. Monitor special collection bins, such as e-waste, donations, carpet recycling, etc.
- Works directly with Waste Haulers and Compost Facility.
- Assist Director of Sustainability in coordinating the requirements of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Event Industry Council (EIC) programs that must be met for each level of Certification.
- Assist Director of Sustainability in preparing the McCormick Place Convention Center for independent measuring, monitoring, and auditing to fulfill the certification requirements.
- Oversees Staff Training pertaining to Sustainability Operations
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 to 5+ years of experience of sustainable efforts in Design, Construction or Operations of Convention Centers, Arenas, theaters or Stadiums.
- Background in Architecture or Engineered Building Systems (HVAC/Electrical and Plumbing).
- Demonstrated knowledge of products and systems procurement.
- Demonstrated involvement in the Sustainable Industry.
- Understanding of Zero Landfill, Sustainable Purchasing, Utility Monitoring, and USGBC LEED Documentation
- Proficiency with MS Office products.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management or related field. Applicable experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
